Chair, Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology

The Cleveland Clinic is seeking applicants for a Chair of the Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology. The Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the Cleveland Clinic is an integral component of the Digestive Disease and Surgery Institute along with the Departments of Colorectal Surgery, General Surgery and the Transplantation Center. The Chair is responsible for overall leadership of the Department, including operations, research, quality and safety, recruitment, retention and mentoring of staff . Th e Department Chair is responsible for the academic mission of the Department, including research and education including the residency training program, with the Program Director reporting directly to the Department Chair. The Gastroenterology and Hepatology Department Chair will have a strong academic background, and prior leadership experience while being an outstanding clinician. The Department Chair has corporate management responsibilities and is responsible for the integration of all departmental services into the organization’s strategic plan. This position will report to the Chair of the Digestive Disease and Surgery Institute.

We are searching for a physician leader to advance the Department into the future. The ideal candidate will be a servant leader with a record of excellence in clinical activities, teaching, and scholarship as well as laudable experience in leadership, administration, mentoring, and program development. The Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology is comprised of 6 sub-specialty centers with 60 physicians practicing at 15 locations in the Greater Cleveland area. The individual will support the strategic mission of Cleveland Clinic Health System and have a national and international reputation in the field. A faculty appointment at rank commensurate with experience is available at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine of Case Western Reserve University. The Einstein Healthcare Network (EHN), Philadelphia, is seeking a full-time, board-certified Gastroenterologist to Chair our Division of Gastroenterology.

We are a lively, energetic and committed group of gastroenterologists providing evidence-based, quality care to our patients; and clinical and academic training to our residents and fellows. The successful candidate will oversee a team of 12 or more full time, fully employed faculty gastroenterologists and mid-level providers and, in conjunction with our Fellowship Program Director, 9 post-doctoral Fellows. The candidate must have experience as a successful clinician, educator, and clinical administrator. We are especially interested in hearing from candidates with experience in advanced endoscopic procedures. The Division is responsible for delivery of care at two of Einstein’s three acute care hospitals, as well as several free-standing endoscopy and outpatient venues.

Blue Lakes Gastroenterology is comprised of 4 physicians, 3 advanced practitioners and support staff. 1:5 call schedule.
