San Antonio, TX (October 28, 2019)

The American College of Gastroenterology (ACG) announces the winners of the 2019 SCOPY Awards (Service Award for Colorectal Cancer Outreach, Prevention, and Year-Round Excellence) to recognize the achievements of ACG members in their community engagement, education and awareness efforts for colorectal cancer prevention.

“This year, a total of 31 SCOPY Awards will be presented to an outstanding slate of colorectal cancer awareness champions,” said Sophie M. Balzora, MD, FACG, Chair, ACG Public Relations Committee. “While all the submissions this year were engaging and effective, the 2019 winners demonstrate sustained engagement with community members, effective collaboration to deliver comprehensive public awareness campaigns, and exemplary commitment to increasing of colorectal cancer screening,” she added.

The winning projects were selected by judges Dr. Balzora and Janice Jang, MD, of the NYU Langone Medical Center, New York, NY.

“The spirit of the SCOPY award is to inspire all ACG members to get involved in community education and make a difference in colorectal cancer prevention by celebrating impactful and creative efforts, particularly the innovative, fun, and frequently hilarious ways our members keep the CRC screening message fresh,” said ACG President Sunanda V.
