Cancer Genome Atlas project yields possible breakthrough

More than 200 researchers studying 224 tumors may have found a genetic vulnerability in colon cancer that could lead to targeted treatments. Scientists plan to test drugs already approved for other cancers that share the genetic aberration. The research is part of the Cancer Genome Atlas project, funded by the National Cancer Institute and the National Human Genome Research Institute.
