PPIs do not raise risk of bacterial overgrowth, study shows
Patients who take proton pump inhibitors are not at greater risk of small intestinal bacterial overgrowth, according to a study in the American Journal of Gastroenterology. Researchers from the Mayo Clinic in Arizona said the results, gleaned from patients who had glucose hydrogen breath testing, held for those on both once- and twice-daily PPI regimens.
