Study links gum disease to pancreatic cancer risk

A British Dental Health Foundation study found people with certain types of oral bacteria may face twice the risk of developing pancreatic cancer while the presence of other, nonpathogenic bacteria was linked to a 45% reduction in risk. The researchers said the study does not prove a causal link between gum disease and cancer risk, but they say it’s clear there is a significant association between the conditions.
