Study: Patients get C. diff cure with synthetic stool

A proof-of-concept study of two patients showed that synthetic stool may cure recurrent Clostridium difficile infection as well as regular fecal transplantation, Ontario researchers report. Both participants returned to having regular bowel movements within several days of receiving an infusion of 33 bacterial strains cultured from feces. Researchers said their approach could address infection worries and patient apprehension. MedPage Today (free registration) (1/9)
