Study reviews C. diff antibiotics, finds no clear difference

A review of study data showed no antibiotic provided a consistent first-time cure of Clostridium difficile infection. Fidaxomicin was linked to fewer recurrences when compared to vancomycin, but researchers suggested vancomycin use may be warranted because of lower costs and fewer concerns about resistance. The study, led by Minneapolis Veterans Affairs Health Care System researchers, analyzed evidence from 11 clinical trials. MedPage Today (free registration) (1/2)
