Survey of nurses finds care quality rises with EHRs

A study funded by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality showed that fewer nurses in hospitals that use EHRs report unfavorable outcomes such as poor care quality and frequent medication errors. The study was based on a survey of 16,362 nurses in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Florida and California; of the 316 hospitals involved, 7% had implemented a basic EHR system in all patient care units.
