Membership in the American College of Gastroenterology is multidisciplinary,
including gastroenterologists, surgeons, radiologists, hepatologists,
pediatricians, pathologists, nurses and others with a shared interest in the
care of patients with digestive diseases. The College promotes the highest
standards in medical education and is guided by its commitment to meeting
the needs of clinical gastroenterology practitioners. More than 10,000
physicians from 75 countries are members of the ACG.

ACG Members and Fellows enjoy a wide variety of benefits and services,

- Waived Annual Scientific Meeting registration fees
- Waived subscription fees to the ACG's American Journal of Gastroenterology
- Waived subscription fees to Nature Clinical Practice Gastroenterology & Hepatology
for Members, International Members, Fellows and Masters
- Regional educational meetings at readily accessible locations throughout
the United States
- Practice Management Course focusing on proven techniques for starting
and effectively managing a GI practice
- Regular mailings of the ACG Newsletter and Legislative Update
- Discounts on educational materials, such as self-assessment tests,

- Representation of GIs at the national level before Congress, Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services,
Food and Drug Administration and other agencies. Representatives of
the College present testimony and submit written comments on public
policy issues affecting the practice of clinical gastroenterology. Fellows
and Members are kept abreast of these activities through the ACG
Update, This Week and other publications.
- Resident/Trainee members may attend the ACG Postgraduate Course in addition
to the Annual Scientific Meeting free of charge.

Allied Health Member:
- Must be employed by an ACG Member.
- Must possess one of the following certifications: RN, NP, CRNP, ANP,
APN, LPN or PA.
- Application fee of $150 (includes one year’s dues and a subscription
to The American Journal of Gastroenterology)
- Annual Membership dues of $150
Resident/Trainee Member:
- Graduation from a recognized medical school with the degree of Doctor
of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy
- Residents shall be enrolled in approved training programs which include
some exposure to gastroenterology, GI endoscopy, hepatology or gastrointestinal
surgery.
- Fellows shall be enrolled in an approved gastroenterology fellowship
program.
- Application fee of $25 (includes one year's dues and
a subscription to The American Journal of Gastroenterology)
- Annual Membership dues of $25
Member:
- Graduation from a recognized medical school with the degree of Doctor
of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy
- Applicants who are not physicians must possess a graduate degree in
a field of specialization related to basic sciences
- Graduate degree shall have been received at least four years prior
to application.
- Application supported by a Member or Fellow of the College
- Application fee of $195 (includes one year's dues and subscriptions
to The American Journal of Gastroenterology and to Nature
Clinical Practice Gastroenterology and Hepatology)
- Annual Membership dues of $250
International Member:
- Qualified individuals (M.D., D.O., M.B., Ph.D.) residing outside of
the United States and Canada, who meet the qualifications set forth
above in the Member category
- Application fee of $195 (includes one year's dues and subscriptions
to The American Journal of Gastroenterology and to Nature
Clinical Practice Gastroenterology and Hepatology)
- Annual Membership dues of $150
Fellow:
- Proposal and endorsement by two Fellows of the College
- Current uninterrupted membership or international member in the College
for a period of no less than three years
- Minimum of 3 CME programs sponsored by the ACG within the last six
years
- Evidence of involvement in ACG activities such as Committees,
Courses, Annual Meeting attendance, etc.
- Certified by a specialty board recognized by the Council on Graduate
Medical Education
- Demonstrated scholarly activities
- Application fee of $50
- Annual Membership dues of $250
Master:
- This is a rare honor conferred upon physicians by the Awards Committee
and the Board of Trustees who have demonstrated distinguished service
to the College and to the field of clinical GI patient care and education
Senior Member or Fellow:
- Members or Fellows who have attained the age of 65 years or have
retired from active practice
- Senior Members and Fellows are not eligible to vote or to hold elective
office
