Poster 238 Creating a New Path: EUS-Guided Gastrojejunostomy With Lumen-Apposing Stent
Author Insight from Niket Sonpal, MD, Lenox Hill Hospital
What’s new here and important for clinicians?
EUS-guided gastrojejunostomy with a lumen-apposing stent for a malignant proximal small bowel obstruction should be considered in patients who require decompression. It is a novel technique and shows the versatility of endoscopic intervention. The system allows for a bypass of the small bowel in patients who are poor surgical candidates due to multiple comorbidities or for palliative purposes.
What do patients need to know?
Patients should be aware that is a potentially alternative means of small decompression for palliative purposes.
