Poster 1302 Cyanoacrylate to the Rescue: Successful Treatment of Duodenal Variceal bleeding by Glue Injection
Author Insight from Niket Sonpal, MD, Lenox Hill Hospital
What’s new here and important for clinicians?
Bleeding gastric varices are a life-threatening condition and cyanoacrylate injection is alternative means of treatment that hold future promise as part of the treatment algorithm. Cyanoacrylate previously has shown excellent outcomes in wound closure and this is an excellent example of thinking outside the endoscopic box.
What do patients need to know?
Patients should be aware that is a potentially alternative means of treatment but still requires larger studies to analyze its effectiveness.
