Dear ACG New York Members:
We wanted to provide an update on this recurring state issue and hopefully keep it at bay for at least another year. ACG has been actively working with the Medical Society for the State of New York (MSSNY) and urging members to oppose legislation (A.285-A, Weinstein/S.6596, DeFrancisco) that could increase New York’s already significant medical liability premiums. The bill changes the Statute of Limitations to a “Date of Discovery” rule. If enacted, according to MSSNY, this legislation could increase your premiums by nearly 15%. It is essential that you express your opposition to NY state elected officials.
The New York State Assembly and State Senate are in session for the final 7 weeks of 2016. As ACG Governors for NY, we urge you to contact your elected officials and urge them to oppose this bill.
How can you help?
-Send a letter to your Senator and Assembly member.
-Call and express your opposition:
Sen. Terrence Murphy (R) : (518) 455-3111
Asm. David Buchwald (D) : (518) 455-5397
Let’s defeat this bill again this year!
Sincerely,
