Linda Rabeneck, MD, MPH, MACG

Linda Rabeneck, MD, MPH, MACG, is a gastroenterologist and clinician scientist who is currently Vice President, Prevention and Cancer Control at Cancer Care Ontario. She is Professor of Medicine at the University of Toronto and Chair of the World Endoscopy Organization (WEO) Colorectal Cancer Screening Committee.

Dr. Rabeneck received her medical degree from the University of British Columbia (UBC) in Vancouver, followed by post-graduate training in internal medicine and gastroenterology at UBC and the University of Toronto. She received her Master’s degree in Public Health from Yale University, where she trained as a Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholar (1988-90). Dr. Rabeneck was on the faculty at Baylor College of Medicine and the Houston VA (1990-2002) before she was recruited back to Canada to become Director of the Division of Gastroenterology at the University of Toronto (2002-2005).

Dr. Rabeneck is a Master of the ACG (2007), who served as a member of the Research Committee (1994-2000) and Chair (1997-2000). She also served on the Board of Trustees (1998-2004).

Dr. Rabeneck played a leadership role in launching ColonCancerCheck in Ontario, Canada’s first-organized, province-wide colorectal cancer screening program. She leads an active research program focusing on the quality and effectiveness of colorectal cancer screening and has authored greater than 200 peer-reviewed publications.

About the Berk/Fise Clinical Achievement Award: The Berk/Fise Clinical Achievement Award, formerly the ACG Clinical Achievement Award, is presented to not more than one Member/Fellow of the College in any year and is made in recognition of distinguished contributions to clinical gastroenterology over a significant period of time. Specific criteria include, in addition to a career of distinguished clinical practice of gastroenterology, contributions in patient care, clinical science, clinical education, technological innovation, and public and community service.
