P2254 Data From Outer Space: The Association of Ultraviolet Light and Crohn’s Disease
Author Insight from Faris El-Khider, MD, MS, Cleveland Clinic
What’s new here and important for clinicians?
The relationship between vitamin D and Crohn’s disease is well-established. Using weather data from NASA and NOAA, we studied the relationship between UV light exposure, which has a big influence on vitamin D metabolism, and hospital admissions for Crohn’s disease over a period of 10 years.
What do patients need to know?
Maintenance of optimum vitamin D levels in the blood is important to Crohn’s disease patients.
