P2292 Efficacy of Endoscopic Gastroplasty for Weight Loss: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

What’s new and important here?
Bariatric endoscopy is a rapidly growing field. With rates of obesity continually rising among both children and adults, expanded treatment options are needed. The novelty of endoscopic gastroplasty provides limited overall efficacy and longer-term durability assessment. In order to maximize reporting of the effectiveness of this procedure, a systematic review and meta-analysis was undertaken. To our knowledge, this is the most robust/comprehensive meta-analysis on endoscopic gastroplasty efficacy to date. Our results revealed a six-and-12-month %EBMIL of 41% and 44%, respectively. The six-and-12-month %EWL was 46% for both dates. These figures greatly exceed the one year %EWL recommended for endoscopic procedures by the ASGE/ASMBS Task Force.
