In 2022, the ACG Public Relations Committee created the Social Media Acumen Awards to celebrate those in the world of gastroenterology who are passionate about using social media for good – for connection, education, storytelling in the GI field, advancing the profession, and educating GI patients.
The ACG Social Media Acumen Awards have two important goals:
- #1 showcase the value of social media in advancing ACG’s strategic priorities and communications objectives, and
- #2 gather all those the PR Committee admires and respects who are active on social media within the ACG family to connect in real life.
For 2024, the ACG PR Committee and the College honor the following people for their acumen: their wit, good judgment, community spirit, and significant impact on the GI community via social media.

EBGI Social Media Ambassadors
Next, the PR Committee honors a very special group of talented and savvy social media practitioners who are doing great work supporting the College’s publication, Evidence-Based Gastroenterology – known as EBGI.
All of the EBGI Social Media Ambassadors are GI fellows-in-training and are receiving a special award this year for their hard work and enthusiasm.
The PR Committee gives special recognition to their weekly Wednesday #EBGI “Tweetorials” and appreciates the creativity and commitment demonstrated by the #EGBIvsCRC social media campaign during 2024 March Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month.
