Explore Resources & Inspiration from ACG
Reezwana Chowdhury, MD, FACG | Chair, ACG Public Relations Committee

The College observes March Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month to bring attention to the lifesaving benefits of colorectal cancer screening. The ACG Public Relations Committee hopes the resources below will inspire you to participate. Submit a SCOPY Award-worthy project, learn how to request a state proclamation or turn landmarks “blue for CRC” in your hometown, and download and share ACG’s CRC Awareness Month graphics and patient handouts.
According to data released earlier this year, colorectal cancer is now the leading cause of cancer deaths for Americans under 50 years old—a sobering, tragic reality that was not initially projected to occur until 2030.

Fight CRC’s United In Blue Installation, March 1, 2026
Each year since 2022, ACG members and College staff volunteer to help advocates from Fight Colorectal Cancer install flags on the National Mall for their “United in Blue” display. A dramatic installation of 27,400 blue flags on the National Mall near the U.S. Capitol is a powerful visual representation of those under age 50 projected to be diagnosed with colorectal cancer in 2030 unless we do more to educate, screen, and raise awareness.
Photos below are from the 2025 United in Blue volunteer day.

How to Request a State Proclamation for Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month
Work with colorectal cancer advocates from Fight CRC to request a proclamation in your state designating March as Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month. Every state’s process is different, but Fight CRC has organized a helpful resource center with the status of all the states, a video tutorial, and a toolkit to download.
