Junior Faculty Development Award
- $450k/3-year award ($150k/year)
- 50% protected time and career development
- Provides support for junior investigators working toward independent careers in clinical research related to gastroenterology or hepatology
- Requirements:
- ACG Member at the time of application
- U.S. or Canadian physicians (MD, MBBS, or DO)
- Junior Faculty: < 7 years out of fellowship training
- Full-time faculty positions (instructor or assistant professor) in the GI or hepatology department at a university, medical school or health care institution at the time of funding
- NOT for established investigators
Established Investigator Bridge Funding Award
- $300k/2-year award ($150k/year)
- 30% protected time
- Provides support for established investigators with bridge funding for clinical research related to gastroenterology or hepatology
- Requirements:
- Complete Pre-qualification application by November 6, 2023
- ACG Member at time of application
- U.S. or Canadian physicians or equivalent (e.g., MD, DO, MBBS)
- Full-time faculty at the time of application
- > 8 years out of fellowship or terminal training program
- Evidence of recently (within 3 years) concluded federal grant in clinical or translational GI or hepatology.
- Must demonstrate one of the following: 1) Evidence of ongoing application to renew federal funding OR 2) Evidence of new federal application to be re-submitted.
- NOT for early career investigators or fellows-in-training
Health Equity Research Award
- $75k/2-year award (50k year-one, 25k year-two based on progress)
- Research to produce actionable science that will translate to reducing health and/or healthcare disparities thereby promoting health equity
- Requirements:
- ACG Membership at time of application
- U.S. or Canadian physicians (MD or DO)
- Full-time faculty position at university, med school or other healthcare institution at time of application OR practicing gastroenterologist/ hepatologist in a community practice
- Pilot data required
- NOT for fellows-in-training
ACG/ASGE Epidemiologic Research Award in Gastrointestinal Endoscopy
- $50k/ 1- or 2-year award
- Research using the GIQuIC registry
- Requirements:
- ACG or ASGE Member at time of application
- Letter of support from GIQuIC and any registries being utilized (submit request by November 6 to: research@giquic.org)
- Include cost of data extraction, cleaning and analysis in the proposal
- U.S. or Canadian physicians or clinical researchers (MD, DO, PhD)
- Fellows-in-training must include a letter of support from:
- Research mentor
- Division Chief confirming trainee’s ongoing appointment and position for the duration of the grant. (If not guaranteed, a contingency plan is required)
Clinical Research Award
- $50k/1 year award
- Preliminary data required
- Research to support innovative patient-oriented research with direct applicability to clinical care
- Requirements:
- ACG Member at time of application
- U.S., Canadian, and International Members eligible
- New! Open to Nurse Practitioners or Physicians Assistants
- Physician, PhD, or equivalent (e.g., MD, DO, MBBS, PhD)
- GI or hepatology fellows (with a mentor)
- Pilot data required
- NOT for residents or medical students
Clinical Research Pilot Awards
- $15k/1 year award
- Research to support innovative patient-oriented research and encourage clinical research among trainees and junior faculty
- Requirements:
- ACG Member at time of application
- U.S., Canadian, and International Members eligible
- New! Open to Nurse Practitioners or Physicians Assistants
- Physician, PhD, or equivalent (e.g., MD, DO, MBBS, PhD)
- GI or hepatology fellows (with a mentor)
- No Pilot Data Required (if pilot data is available, choose a different grant category: Clinical Research Award)
- NOT for residents or medical students
Resident Clinical Research Award
- $10k/1 year award
- Research to support innovative patient-oriented research with direct applicability to clinical care
- Award recipients are eligible for reimbursements of approved expenses for attending the ACG Annual Scientific Meeting (covered separate from the award)
- Requirements:
- Internal Medicine Residents in their first or second year of training in the U.S. or Canada
- Pediatrics Residents in their first or second year of training in the U.S. or Canada
- Mentor must be an ACG Member in good standing at time of application
Medical Student Research Award
- $5k/6-10 week award
- Funding to support short-term summer research experiences in gastroenterology and hepatology
- Award recipients are eligible for reimbursements of approved expenses for attending the ACG Annual Scientific Meeting (covered separate from the award)
- Requirements:
- U.S. or Canadian Medical Student
- 1st, 2nd, or 3rd year students at a U.S. or Canadian Medical School or School of Osteopathy
- Mentor must be an ACG Member in good standing at time of application
