The Minority Affairs and Cultural Diversity Committee is accepting applications from Mentors for the 2019 ACG Summers Scholars Program.
As a Committee, we believe that we should focus on underrepresented racial/ethnic minority (URM – inclusive of Black/African American, Hispanic/Latino, Native American and Pacific Islanders) undergraduate medical trainees for mentorship and research as a means to increase representation of minority groups in academic gastroenterology careers. The Committee is looking for faculty interested in serving as mentors for the students who will apply for the available positions. Mentors will need to submit their curriculum vitae, interest in participating in the program and a brief description of the potential project(s) that students could work on over the summer. Faculty does not have to be from an underrepresented minority group (however faculty members from an underrepresented minority group are strongly encouraged to volunteer), but must be affiliated with an academic institution where their research is conducted and be ACG members. Applications will be reviewed by the Committee and mentors will be notified regarding their inclusion in the program.
If you have any questions, please contact the Chair of the Minority Affairs and Cultural Diversity Committee, Dr. Darrell Gray, II.
