The Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee is accepting applications from Mentors for the 2024 ACG Summer Scholars Program. Deadline for applications is January 15, 2024.

As a Committee, we believe that we should focus on underrepresented racial/ethnic minority (URM – inclusive of Black/African American, Hispanic/Latino, Native American and Pacific Islanders) undergraduate medical trainees for mentorship and clinical research as a means to increase representation of minority groups in academic gastroenterology careers. The Committee is looking for faculty interested in serving as mentors for the students who will apply for the available positions. Mentors will need to submit their curriculum vitae, interest in participating in the program and a brief description of the potential project(s) that students could work on over the summer. Faculty does not have to be from an underrepresented minority group (however faculty members from an underrepresented minority group are strongly encouraged to volunteer) but must be an ACG member. Applications will be reviewed by the Committee and mentors will be notified regarding their inclusion in the program.

Students who are selected for the program receive a $5000 stipend to cover living and lab expenses.
