The American Journal of Gastroenterology invites submissions for a special issue focused on Artificial Intelligence (AI) Clinical Applications in Gastroenterology and Hepatology.

AI and machine learning are rapidly transforming clinical medicine, offering novel tools for disease prediction, diagnostics, risk stratification, and personalized care. In gastroenterology and hepatology, AI has already demonstrated potential in endoscopic image analysis, histopathology, radiologic interpretation, electronic health record (EHR) mining, and clinical decision support.

We seek high-quality original research and reviews that explore the clinical use of AI applications across the full spectrum of clinical applications in gastrointestinal and liver diseases. Studies emphasizing performance comparison of AI to conventional decision making and AI cost-effectiveness analyses are encouraged. Contributions that address the ethical, regulatory, and practical challenges of AI integration into clinical workflows are also encouraged.

Please clearly state in your cover letter that your manuscript is intended for the AI Clinical Applications in GI and Hepatology special issue. This issue is scheduled to publish in Fall 2025. Depending on the responses to this request, some accepted manuscripts may be published in other upcoming issues of AJG.
