Inflammation in Digestive Diseases

Understanding the nuances of inflammation is important for clinicians and researchers alike. We invite researchers, clinicians, and scholars to submit papers that delve into the role of inflammation in gastroenterology and hepatology.

This call seeks to explore inflammation within the digestive system—from diseases ranging from inflammatory bowel disease to eosinophilic esophagitis to autoimmune GI and liver diseases and beyond. Papers should critically examine the role of inflammation in various digestive disorders, providing insights into the challenges faced by clinicians from diagnosis to treatment. Submissions can be of all study types, from descriptive epidemiology to randomized controlled trials.  Submissions may also cover a range of topics pertaining to inflammation such as checkpoint inhibitor induced inflammatory responses in the GI tract, biomarkers, therapeutic interventions, or advancements in diagnostic techniques. Basic science papers will not be considered for this clinical issue on inflammation.

Selected papers will contribute to advancing our understanding of inflammation’s role in digestive health and pave the way for improved clinical practice.

Please clearly state in your cover letter that your manuscript is intended for the Inflammation in Digestive Diseases special issue. This issue is scheduled to publish in Fall 2024. Depending on the responses to this request, some accepted manuscripts may be published in other upcoming issues of AJG.

Manuscripts should be submitted through the journal submission system

Submission Window Closes: July 1, 2024
