Editor-in-Chief Request for Applications

The American College of Gastroenterology (ACG) invites applications for the position of Editor-in-Chief of Clinical and Translational Gastroenterology (CTG), an open-access, double-blind peer-reviewed medical journal published by the ACG. The Editor-in-Chief is appointed for a 3-year term commencing January 1, 2027, and shall be eligible for reappointment for 1 additional term, with a maximum term as editor of 6 years.

Clinical and Translational Gastroenterology seeks to promptly publish and broadly disseminate important clinical care insights and significant scientific discoveries that impact the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of digestive disorders. CTG hopes to fulfill an unmet need for clinicians and scientists by welcoming novel cohort studies, early-phase clinical trials, qualitative and quantitative epidemiologic research, hypothesis-generating research, and studies of novel mechanisms and methodologies including public health interventions. CTG also welcomes hypothesis-generating studies, methods papers, and translational research with clear applications to human physiological processes or diseases involving the gastrointestinal system.  CTG expands the scope of translational research to include public health dimensions that impact the human experience.  

Position Overview

The Editor-in-Chief provides the scientific vision and editorial leadership for the journal and is responsible for maintaining the highest standards of editorial quality, integrity, and impact. The Editor-in-Chief works with the Board of Trustees, ACG staff, and ACG’s publishing partner to guide the strategic direction and continued growth of the journal.

The Editor-in-Chief will serve a 3-year renewable term and will receive dedicated editorial and administrative support from the ACG. The Editor-in-Chief receives an honorarium in recognition of his/her service to the Journal, the College, and the gastroenterology community. The Editor-in-Chief must relinquish editorial or other decision-making roles at any other peer-reviewed publications.
