Following cannabis legalization in Massachusetts, the cost and length of stay for cannabis hyperemesis syndrome have significantly increased.
What do patients need to know?
- Regular and heavy use of cannabis can lead to repeated hospitalizations for nausea and vomiting (called cannabis hyperemesis syndrome), a condition that can be tricky to recognize and diagnose.
- Following cannabis legalization in Massachusetts, patients are staying longer in the hospital and are requiring more resources than before to manage their cannabis hyperemesis syndrome.
