Author Insight from Andres D. Rodriguez, DO, MBA, University of Miami

What’s new here and important for clinicians?

With retrospective analysis of IBD patients who completed a diet score questionnaire within three months of biologic induction and following inflammatory markers, we were able to see that diet high in fruits and vegetables may independently improve biochemical response.

What do patients need to know?

Many studies show the effects and impact of diet on IBD; however, this study serves as a reminder that diets high in fruit and vegetables can also improve the efficacy of biologic induction.
