Swedish study finds hypnosis benefits IBS patients

Hypnosis reduced symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome in 40% of patients, and the effect lasted a year, according to a study from the University of Gothenburg in Sweden published in the American Journal of Gastroenterology. The study adds to earlier data showing hypnotherapy helps IBS patients, and researchers said it could “reduce both the consumption of health care and the cost to society.” Read the abstract.
