Highlights from the 2023 ACG Advocacy Day

From the Chair of ACG Board of Governors, Dayna S. Early, MD, FACG and Vice Chair, Sita Chokahavatia, MD, MACG

Thank you ACG advocates! Nearly 100 ACG advocates from over 40 states canvased Capitol Hill last week representing clinical GI and our patients. We participated in over 175 meetings, and also hosted a “Political Grand Rounds” luncheon that was moderated by ACG Legislative and Public Policy Council Chair, Louis Wilson, MD, FACG. The group heard a wide array of perspectives from 8 Members of Congress, many of whom were practicing physicians prior to getting into politics. We learned about their personal journey into politics and what prompted them to run for political office. We also received tips on how to effectively advocate for our profession. ACG leaders also met with HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra's senior staff later in the day.

Thank you ACG colleagues for taking the time to join us in Washington, D.C.!
