Get Ready for March CRC Awareness Month!

From Tauseef Ali, MD, FACG, Chair, ACG Public Relations Committee & Governor for Oklahoma

March Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month is a rallying point for ACG members and the GI community to bring attention to the lifesaving benefits of colorectal cancer screening.

The ACG Public Relations Committee wants you to be aware of opportunities to get involved through some of the well-respected CRC patient advocacy organizations and to explore the College’s CRC screening educational resources, infographics, social media banners, and awareness tools. There are excellent materials to download and use with patients, at community events, and on social media. Make your plans for March and save the date for “Dress in Blue Day” on Friday, March 3rd!

#GoBlue for CRC Awareness Month
The Colon Cancer Coalition invites ACG members to join a national effort with patient advocates to illuminate landmarks blue and raise awareness of colorectal cancer prevention. Visit the Blue for CRC page for resources, best practices, templates, and inspiration. Share your iconic blue landmarks during March CRC Month on social media with #BlueForCRC.

Request a State Proclamation
Muhammad A. Memon, MD of Mansfield, TX, a member of the ACG Patient Care Committee, wrote to Greg Abbott, Governor of Texas, to petition that March be designated Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month there. Check to see if there is a proclamation in your state and explore a helpful tutorial by patient advocates from Fight Colorectal Cancer on how to request a proclamation.
