It's That Time of Year Again: Join ACG's Public Health Advocacy Efforts

From the ACG Board of Governors Chair Dayna S. Early, MD, FACG and Vice Chair Sita S. Chokhavatia, MD, FACG, MACG

Join the ACG Board of Governors in raising awareness for colorectal cancer screening, and public health initiatives spearheaded by the ACG Public Relations Committee and ACG Governor for Oklahoma, Tauseef Ali, MD, FACG. Join us in raising awareness for these important issues:

Ride or Stride for 45: This week the Biden Administration issued a proclamation, recognizing March 2023 as "National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month." Show support for colorectal cancer screening starting at age 45 for average-risk adults in a virtual challenge: Ride Or Stride for 45. Get active for 45 miles or 45 minutes per day in March. It’s not too late to register for a tee and log your miles/minutes in March! Explore ACG’s CRC Community Education Toolkit with resources, social media banners, and patient handouts.

Don't Forget IBD: Urge Your U.S. Representative to Join the Congressional Crohn's and Colitis Caucus. ACG is partnering with the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation for an "advocacy week of action" from March 6-10. Take a few minutes and ask your U.S. Representative to join the Congressional Crohn’s & Colitis Caucus. Recruiting more members will our coalition's advocacy efforts to garner more support for prior authorization and step therapy reforms. For example, the Safe Step Act (S. 652) was recently reintroduced in the U.S. Senate. The Safe Step Act requires self-insured group health plans under ERISA to establish an exceptions process for any medication step therapy protocol. Let's get support for a House bill!

Your Voice for GI Practices: The ACG Board of Governors and ACG leaders will also be in Washington, D.C., next month, advocating for GI practices and greater autonomy in patient-care. Contact your ACG Governor today so we can help resolve issues impacting your practice and patients.
