Author Insight from Andrew Chang, MD, Sierra Nevada Gastroenterology Medical Associates
What’s new here and important for clinicians?
- We found that patients who had more serious medical problems or new complaints preferred in-person visits over telemed office visits.
- Compassion was rated higher at in-person visits.
- Telemed visits were more desirable for patients with stable problems or follow ups as they are viewed as more convenient.
What do patients need to know?
Telemedicine visits are rated high for quality and convenience. However, if a patient has a serious problem or new complaint, in person visits are preferred.
