Poster 1125 Psychotherapy in Patients with Functional Dyspepsia: A Meta-Analysis

What’s new here and important for clinicians?
Functional dyspepsia is the most common gastrointestinal problem seen in primary care settings. Previous studies suggested that patients with functional dyspepsia have a higher incidence of psychological disorders. This Meta-analysis of five studies (N=374) has shown potential benefits of psychological interventions in improving gastrointestinal symptoms and psychiatric symptoms in patients with functional dyspepsia.
What do patients need to know?
Patients with functional dyspepsia not responding to standard medical therapy should be aware that adding psychotherapy can potentially improve their medical outcomes.
