- Provide context and build the case for your project
- What is the background? What is the impact?
- Build excitement among reviewers

- Have you clearly defined your research goals?
- Is it clear why the study is important?
- have you asked collaborators and colleagues to proof your aims?
- Have you spelled out acronyms, and used plain and concise language?
- Talk to your Mentors and Colleagues! Watch the grant writing video.
- Ask for feedback. Are your ideas feasible?
- Are there appropriate resources at your institution?
- Confirm your project hasn’t already been done!
- Review the current research
- Cite appropriately
- Make sure you are clear about how your project will expand the field of gastroenterology/hepatology and clinical care.

- Are you a Resident or Medical Student? Confirm you selected “Resident” or “Medical Student” as the principal investigator status.
- Confirm Eligibility! Complete the first task in the grant system.
- Check what information you need from co-investigators and mentors in the grant system
- Are there tasks in the grant system you can complete now to avoid rushing closer to the deadline?
- Read the FAQsfor any additional questions on requirements”

- Do you have a separate budget justification?
- What costs are covered by the institution vs. ACG?
- Proofread!
- Have you checked the spelling and formatting, including page numbers and headers?
- Have you completed the checklist to confirm all sections are complete?
