Sesame-seed allergies appear to be on the rise

Sesame seeds are the No. 3 allergen in Israel and No. 4 in Australia, food industry analyst Phil Lempert said. While sesame seeds must be listed as a potential allergen on food labels in Canada and the EU, there is no such requirement in the U.S., where sesame products are becoming more common and sesame-seed allergy is becoming more prevalent.
