People who have a tattoo have 3.7 times the risk of developing hepatitis C, regardless of other risk factors such as history of blood transfusions or use of IV drugs, New York University research suggests. The researchers said reusing needles, insufficient sterilization of equipment or reusing blood-contaminated ink are ways HCV can be transmitted during a tattoo procedure. MedWire News (U.K.) (1/21)
